| Church Facilities |
| The facilities at St. Jude's Church are most spectacular.
The square footage of the entire premises is approximately 14,000
square feet. The church nave, balcony, chancel and sanctuary
seat a total of 435 people. In the year 2000, the entire old
steam heating system was replaced with an up-to-date computer
controlled hot water system. In 1996, the pews were removed
and refurbished and the flooring was replaced with attractive
marmoleum. Two insignias were created on the floor. The first
one is the Canterbury Cross located at the baptismal font and
the second is the ship logo of St. Jude's Church located near
the altar area. The Narthex was also renovated to create a washroom
at this level and the paneling received a much-needed refurbishment.
The electrical fixtures and wiring were updated and we added
some theatrical lighting. Dimmer switches and new breakers were
also incorporated. The altar area received new carpeting and
the old organ loft curtains were replaced to blend with the
bricks. The front steps were also replaced supplying us with
a new handrail and the concrete with a unique finish. In 1987
the illuminated text, which is over the arch area in front of
the altar, was restored. |

"On a sunny day in the spring, summer or autumn, passersby
walking along William Street in Oakville will come upon a
garden that will make them stop in wonder. It is the garden
of St. Jude's Anglican Church. " The Glory of the Garden"
(with photographs by Diana Wiggins) is a hardcover coffee
table book that has been published telling the story of the
garden, and of the group of dedicated volunteers who created
it and keep it growing. It is also the story of all gardens
- of the cycle that unfolds each year from bud to blossom
to "withered sere" and then to bud again. The book
is for sale in the Church office for $26.00 with proceeds
to Outreach or is also for sale in fine bookstores. The book
makes a great birthday, anniversary of wedding gift!!!
In the year 2000
a lovely Garden Chapel was erected in the west garden. This
is a very serene place to sit and reflect or just enjoy the
splendor of our gardens.
