We welcome all enquiries about weddings. It is
important to understand that a church wedding is more than a service
with a pretty background for pictures. It is a religious service,
a sacrament of the Christian community, provided within the worship
space of the Christian community. We receive a number of requests
each year from couples belonging to other congregations who wish
to be married here by a minister from their own church. The clergy
and people of St. Jude's have a strong commitment to ecumenism
and desire that our church be an open and welcoming place for
all people. Keeping this in mind, the clergy of our parish have
an obligation to oversee the ceremonies that take place in our
church building. The only clergy authorized to witness marriages
in St. Jude's are the clergy licensed and appointed by the Anglican
Bishop of Niagara to serve the parish of St. Jude's. Ministers
from other churches and religions will be personally invited to
participate in the ceremony at the discretion of the
presiding priest. The presiding priest will make sure that
the visiting minister(s) are made to feel welcome and will discuss
with them ways in which they may particiapte in the ceremony.
Should you decide to fill out an application form,
they are available at the Church office or you can obtain one
from the clergy on a Sunday. We also have a detailed information
package that will be able to answer any questions you may have,
including the financial aspect of the "wedding offering"
fees. For enquiries, please call (905) 844-3972 and ask for Julie
Hudak or e-mail
questions to Julie. You may wish to complete the application
form (click on the button) and fax it to the church office at
(905) 844-3977.
